[KITA] Band saw for sandwich panel

Auto panel cutting machine (Designed as band saw)

For being installed into a continuous production line.

The endless element strip coming from the D/B SLAT is cut to programmed lengths by means of the band saw with the following sequence of functions :

At first the band saw is in the initial idle position. The saw unit is on the left hand end as seen in passage direction.

The machine control gives the order for the longitudinal carriage to accelerate to the same speed as the passing element strip and to locate the saw exactly on the cutting line being transversely to the element.

After the synchronization between longitudinal carriage and passing element strip has been reached and the saw is on the cutting line, the two holding-down appliance pairs are closed. Then the transverse carriage is approached in such a way that "giving a cut" by the saw is carried out with smooth start in order to avoid that the metal edges tear out. The end of the cut can/must also take place at reduced speed.

After the panel has been cut, the saw band is moved to an end position (fixed via limit switch) which generally depends on the element width.

At the same time the holding-down appliance pairs open and the cut element is released.

After the transverse carriage has arrived in its final position, the saw band is turned by 180 by means of a turning station. The turning station comprises turntable guide roller units arranged above and below the element conveying level with hydraulic servo-motors.

During the above-mentioned turning process the longitudinal carriage travels back to its end position (opposite to the conveying direction of the endless element strip) due to further control steps being released by limit switches.

After the idle position has been reached, it is possible to carry out a cut to the opposite direction.

The cut panel is then pushed further on by the passing element strip up to the following roller conveyor.

After the longitudinal carriage has returned to its starting position and at the same time the saw band has been turned by 180, the machine is ready for a new cutting cycle.

The band saw consists of the following main assemblies :

Band saw unit

The band saw is driven by a step-down gear with and electric motor with toothed belt drive. Depending on the element type, the cut can take place from the upside in downward direction or, alternatively, from below in upward direction. The saw blade has then to be mounted accordingly.

The returning unit which is installed directly behind the saw blade can only be used if the saw band cuts from below to above.
