Soft Formation TCI Tricone bits

The 437 TCI bits are used to drill low compressive strength, very soft formations.TCI bits maximize the use of both conical and chisel tungsten carbide inserts of large diameters and high projection. This cutting structure design, combined with maximum cone offset, result in high bit penetration rates. The deep intermesh of cutter rows prevents bit bailing in sticky formation.

In response to the characteristics that inserts in different areas on the cone have different cutting actions, conical inserts are placed in permanent contact area and wedge inserts are placed in alternative contact area so that the drilling efficiency is greatly improved. Wear resistance of cutting structure is enhanced by setting diamond inserts in the permanent contact area of the cone where inserts are severely worn. Tungsten carbide inserts are placed on cone top face to protect cone body from abrasive erosion.

Main structure features
1. Be used widely, not only for side tracking, but also for deep hole drilling.
2.working torque is lower than that of PDC bit under the same WOB and formation conditions, thread expanding problem normally encountered with small size drilling tools can be reduced and consequently, the down hole accident is avoided.
3.by combining advantages of both tricone and PDC bits and eliminating deficiencies of the both, the single cone bit is more suitable for drilling highly piastic formations than tri -cone bit, and more suitable for drilling tough formations with hard stringers and other complicated formations than PDC.
